Intentional Happiness: On things that only God can do for us

Welcome to December! Usually when I reflect on a year, I do it by recalling all the big things that happened during the months but in 2021, the year was slow and full of unexpected events and so there isn’t many “big moments” to recall and so I decided that I would be intentional about being thankful for the little things. That is why today, I’m doing what I call #journeyto22 where I’m sharing 22 things I’m thankful and grateful for, first being I’m thankful for the gift of life because without life I couldn’t be thankful for anything else.

I hope you all will begin this journey with me and share your gratitude to God whether for the big things or little things. I want to challenge everyone to this especially everyone I know born in December like me. But I hope everyone will join me because as I said, it might as well be all our birthdays. December is an amazing time to reflect, be thankful and focus the spotlight on the celebration of my favourite person, Jesus Christ. Read my #journeyto22 thanksgiving list below! And I cannot wait to see yours!

Here’s to trusting God’s faithfulness to see us to the end of the year and the beginning of a new one but until then Merry Christmas 🎄 everyone and happy birthday to us all 😁

3. I’m thankful to have been able to start my blog especially because I never thought I could. I thought I wasn’t just that kind of person. I overcame writer’s anxiety by blogging, to God be the glory

5. I’m thankful for the many conversations with my mum. As I’ve grown older, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the fact that I can talk to my mum. We may not always see eye to eye but I know she has my back always and acts in my best interest every time.

11. I’m thankful for the wonders in the Word; it comforts, it encourages, it is a timeless truth, it is strength and courage, it is a help in the time of need and a source of direction.

15. I’m thankful for “becoming”. I’m not there yet but I’m thankful for all the time I had to figure and refigure life out, I’m thankful for being able to discover myself which has made me more intentional about how I want to live my life.

16. I’m thankful for all the books I read this year. I love to read but mostly novels, I really wanted to leave behind the fiction life and challenge myself to focus on powerful and life changing nonfiction and I’m glad I did.

17. I’m thankful for the design skills I picked up. When you’re little you’re always asked “what do you want to be when you grow up” and so you grow up with the mindset that you can only be one thing. But this year and through exploring design, I realize that I can be more than one thing. No one thing defines me and I’m grateful for that.

19. I’m thankful for change. I don’t like change, I like my comfort zones but without change, I could never grow and become everything God is calling me to be. So, I’m thankful for even the really hard and uncomfortable changes as I know they continously shape me into God’s perfect will.

21. I’m thankful for God’s faithfulness and sovereignty because it is so comforting to know that while we’re often rattled by life’s storms, God is forever stable, unmoving, all-knowing and thus always dependable and reliable.

22. I’m thankful for laughter and I’m thankful that God always, always gives me reasons to laugh. His joy in my life is something I can always count on and I’m grateful to my loving and perfect Father.

2021 was ‘everything’ and that’s the best word I can use to classify how this year went/is going but I’m so thankful for it because I genuinely believe that Jesus did some amazing things in my life which will serve as a firm foundation for where I’m going next. Thanks for reading! See you all soon, remember Jesus loves you!
