Never Tomorrow

For little over a year now, my favourite picture which I have posted a lot on my stories has been this graphic design by Izzy Lamb.

I love it because it always seems to capture my state of mind a lot of times. “A million dreams are keepin’ me awake” was part of the soundtrack of the musical drama “The Greatest Showman” and it has been my song for a while now and it is no exaggeration because sometimes it does feel like my mind is filled with a million glorious pictures of the future.

I think dreams are amazing and I’m thankful God gave us the ability to have them because when you have dreams, you will always have hope for your future and no matter what your present looks like, you will always be able to say “things will be better tomorrow.”

A dream of mine which I had for years came to fulfilment a few months ago and it was everything I had ever imagined and more. I was so giddy and thankful because I realized that not everyone gets to see their dreams come alive especially in the same exact way they imagined it, it was truly a special time for me.

But do you know what? Almost immediately after that I was back to dreaming those glorious pictures of the future again. Moments like that make you realize that no matter how big a dream is, there will always be more to dream about. I guess that’s what makes life so exciting, that hope and everything we do to see it become a reality. It drives us, it is what gets us up in the morning, that expectation that something better and bigger is just around the corner, that realization that our dreams can come through.

Dreams are important; they give us a focus for our lives and make victory so much sweeter when we get to accomplish everything we have always wanted. Dreams can also be quite addictive especially if you believe your dreams are better than your reality.

All I want to say today though is that we should learn to live in the moment too. Hope for tomorrow is great but gratitude for today is also very important. I think there is a tendency for us to get so caught up in our dreams that we forget to be awake and just breathe.

I know a lot of us desperately want to be in the future already but I think while we are still in today we should be thankful for the little things. Maybe you can’t wait to get married or you can’t wait to graduate from school but while you still have to wait, you should enjoy time with your family before you leave to spend forever with your spouse and enjoy time with your friends because you may not really get an opportunity to be as close as you are right now. I know you want a filled life but can you be thankful for the silence right now?

I’m still going to have a million dreams and I can’t wait for every single one of them to come to pass but before that happens, I will choose to be thankful for today because I realize that every current reality was probably once a dream, and so I hope you will choose to do the same too.

P.S I’m celebrating 21 published posts today and I could not be more excited! Thank you all for reading, I’m truly grateful.
