But the Word of the Lord endures forever! And this is the Word that was announced to you!1 Peter 1:25 TPT.
So many things came to my mind while preparing this, the prevalent is how do I properly describe the word of God? There are a lot of instances in the bible that can aid the description of God’s word which is why It is difficult to find the perfect description.
There are instances of God’s word to a man, God’s word to the world in the Bible, and the common characteristic of all the instances is the integrity of God’s word. God’s word is true and endures forever.
A reason for the integrity of God’s word is that God honors his word. The scripture in Matthew 24:35 tell us how important God’s word is and how God sees his word. Jesus said: Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. Matthew 24:35. Everything may come and go but God’s word remains forever. In the meditation of this scripture, I realized that God’s word is forever because God wants us to know him, (just as the saying goes you know a man by the things he says) not only us but even generations to come.
So when God says a thing to a generation, they believe and see it come to pass, the fulfillment of God’s word reveals a nature of God to them and this same word makes generations come to know God and keep knowing him. The common characteristic of God’s word is the integrity of his word and it is to the end that we increase our knowledge of God.
The word of God is God’s heart to us and at the center of God’s heart is love for his children. God’s word reveals his love for us, be it in chastisement or prosperity, every word God speaks reveals that he loves us and wants the best for us. God’s love in his words may not be decoded the first time anyone hears it, further meditation or action if obedience unravels the love of God in his word. An instance is God’s word to Abram to leave his country and his people to land he knows not, what comes to mind is why will God lead someone out of a place of love, a place of comfort, a place of the establishment to a place of uncertainty.
The obedience of Abram reveals that God’s word came to him as a result of God’s love for the world. That word sets the course for the coming of the Messiah Jesus who will save the world and turn the whole world to God.
The opening scripture says that this word that endures is what was announced to us; every word of God in the scripture and every word God has said to us is what endures forever and our response to this should be an enduring faith in God’s word. Heaven and earth may pass away but God’s word remains!!! Have confidence in the word of God knowing that his word is his love for you and let this birth unwavering and enduring faith in you.
