If you’ve been reading my blog posts I’m sure it’s clear to you by now that I’m a Christian and it is something I’m really grateful for. I consider it to be my primary identity because it shapes and influences every other aspect of my life. If you ask me what has played the biggest role in my Christian journey, I would have to say the Bible. The word of God has shaped me and revealed the person of God to me more intimately than anything ever could. I believe the Bible is God’s autobiography (although His story is still ongoing) and it is a call to anyone who desires to truly know Him because if you study those pages, and I mean really study it, your life can never remain the same.
So the Bible is the inspiration behind today’s blog post as I will be playing a game called “Bible tag”. In case you’re reading this and you have answers to the questions below, don’t stop the fun, leave a comment on this post. I look forward to reading your replies. Now let’s get into it.
Favourite bible character?
Joseph (Genesis 37-50). This was actually a tough one because I love David too but Joseph’s story is just too awesome. It reveals God’s character as faithful and let’s us know that as humans, there is a reward for being faithful too and that no matter how long it seems to take, God always shows up.
Favourite bible story?
1 Samuel 30:1-18. This story is about King David and how he navigated a really tough situation. I love this story because it reminds me of the importance of turning to God in our pain instead of allowing the pain to consume us or cause us to turn away from Him. This story ended in victory because David chose, at a crucial moment, to call on God instead of remaining sorrowful.
Favourite female bible story?
Hannah (1 Samuel 1-2). Hannah’s story is one of overcoming great hardship through faith in God and gives us a glimpse into the Kingdom principle of making a vow before God and then fulfilling that vow. I also love her because she gave us the prophet Samuel.
Favourite miracle performed by Jesus?
The woman with the issue of blood (Mark 5:25-34). This story always touches me because of how Jesus drastically changed the life of the woman and gave her a whole different life after the healing. In verse 26, the bible says “And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered but rather grew worse”. If you have ever had a sick loved one, been sick yourself or heard about someone with a chronic illness, you can totally understand this statement and so when she was made whole because of a faith that marveled even Jesus, you can’t help but be happy for her even if the story took place over 2000 years ago.
Favourite bible verse?
I don’t really have one because they’re all so amazing and different verses and chapters minister to you in all the different situations of life. But I particularly like John 16:33 where Jesus said “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” I like the scripture because it is a reminder that God is not taken by surprise by our difficulties (He knows we’re going to experience them) but He also knows we’re going to overcome because He has overcome.
Favourite Psalm?
Ah they are all too amazing so I don’t have one but here are some of my favourites (top 6 you could say in no particular order); 1. Psalm 23 2. Psalm 16 3. Psalm 34 4. Psalm 91 5. Psalm 121 6. Psalm 103
Bible character I relate to the most?
Peter. This is because I feel like I’m usually the person that is always doing the most and then I end up falling flat on my face but just like Peter, God’s grace has proved sufficient for me and the mercy and love of Jesus always speaks for me.
Favourite old testament prophet?
Isaiah. He wrote so many prophecies about Jesus and his book also contains really inspiring verses. See Isaiah chapter 53.
Favourite bible name?
Isaac (Genesis 21:6). Meaning – One who laughs.
Favourite new testament book?
Once again I don’t have a favourite but I love Colossians chapter 3 and Ephesians chapter 4 because they give the standards for how Christians ought to live their lives as well as truths about our status in Christ.
As you may have deduced, I love happy endings but who doesn’t? In the Christian journey, we have the assurance of a happy ending no matter the bumps we may encounter on the road. If you aren’t a Christian, I hope you will consider becoming one so the assurance of a happy ending can be yours too. A simple prayer saying “Lord Jesus I believe you died for me and are now risen, I repent of my sins, come into my life and make it yours forever. In your name I pray. Amen” is all it takes. This was really fun for me and I hope you enjoyed reading it as well. Don’t forget to drop your own answers! Until next time, may the love of Jesus keep filling your hearts.
