I feel it in this room, Holy Spirit move, cause when you have Your way, something has to break
Sometimes the answer to a discomforting situation is not that we run away but that we face it head-on. Think about conversations you avoided having because they were just too difficult or that time you saw someone and moved in the opposite direction because you were trying to prevent an awkward interaction. We always run away from things that are too hard, too difficult and too new. But that isn’t the healthy way to live, true growth can only happen when we allow ourselves to be stretched beyond what we are normally used to. We will only get to understand our fullest potential when we are willing to let go of what we know to be our comfort zone.
The truth is no one likes uncomfortable situations or big life changes but we shouldn’t run when they happen. We shouldn’t seek to avoid them or undo them or maybe even deny their existence. The caveat here is that I’m not talking about dangerous or toxic situations. In those cases, we ought to run and never look back. I’m instead talking about genuine life situations that serve as defining moments for us. Depending on the decisions we make, these situations can shape who we get to be.
This is the picture I have in mind of something uncomfortable. It is like you are standing in the middle of the ocean and a wave is coming, instead of struggling, you should just stand still, be calm and let it wash over you. When you do that, something will break even. You can’t always control the outcome of things but you can determine how the outcome will affect you. You could deny the existence or even fight against it but it won’t change whatever needs to happen from happening.
No matter how hard, we should embrace the curveballs life throws at us. It is in having difficult conversations that we are able to sort out difficult situations. Refusing to have them now is simply postponing it to the future. In having those conversations now, we overcome whatever needs overcoming and move forward.
So, let’s admit those things that hurt us and begin to walk the pathway towards healing. We have to learn to face life with boldness because that’s when we can experience true growth. For me, I don’t want to run away from life’s discomforting situations. I want to have difficult conversations no matter how awkward if it would mean that tomorrow it wouldn’t be so awkward anymore. I want to accept the life changes that come and I want to be content with the knowledge that people are not perfect.
It may take tears and constant renewing of mind but it is better than running away. Life wasn’t created to be without these moments that stretch us here and there but if we can just hold on long enough, we will see things fall into place for us. It will become things that we don’t have to worry about tomorrow because we have overcome today.

Apt!
Scary truth, at times, but yes, the truth remains the truth.
This expression of yours is life defining.
Always a pleasure reading,
Thank You Fay.
